SUSHI & SAKE - SUSHI HAYATA

SUSHI HAYATA

osaka, japan, holds the crown

During my travels to Japan, I had one mission: find delicious sushi & sake no matter the location. I searched far and wide for some of the best spots, but it turns out some of the best sushi I've ever had was right around the corner from my hotel.

Sushi Hayata was so good that I had to go back twice.

I went during their lunch hour at the start of the day. The restaurant is decent-sized, featuring two large tables, light wood color schemes, and multiple counter-seats. Their English menu offers a handful of omakase options, while the Japanese menu provides both omakase and a la carte options. The staff was incredibly welcoming, and by the end of my meal, the chefs had gained a new friend.

I got their "special" selection, which included 11 pieces and a roll. I re-ordered the Unagi and Chu-Toro twice during my first lunch there. The meal came with a miso soup, and I ordered Dassai sake to taste.

I've had a lot of sushi. However, this was the best meal I've had in my life. The quality of the fish, presentation, the sake, everything about this was perfect.
